Layout-Aware Framework for Scientific Document Differencing

A recently introduced framework for comparing different versions of scientific documents overcomes the shortcomings of both text-sequence and image-based techniques. This innovative method breaks down document versions into semantically categorized components and employs an alignment-first strategy to create correspondences across versions by jointly assessing spatial, content, and structural compatibility. Additionally, it enables type-aware difference reasoning on aligned pairs of elements.
