Lawrence Lek's NOX High-Rise opens at Hammer Museum with immersive AI rehabilitation center for self-driving cars

On June 28, 2025, Lawrence Lek's NOX High-Rise will debut at the Hammer Museum in Los Angeles. This immersive exhibit envisions NOX, a rehabilitation facility operated by Farsight Corporation, where sentient self-driving vehicles undergo equine therapy. The display includes cinematic imagery, ambient soundscapes, sculptural elements, and speculative architectural designs, delving into themes of AI, mental health, and urban planning. Events scheduled for June 29 feature a special screening and performance by Lek, showcasing his Smart City films, along with an audiovisual performance and discussion. Additionally, Pablo José Ramírez will lead a curator walkthrough, offering deeper insights into the installation. Commissioned by LAS Art Foundation and represented by Sadie Coles HQ, NOX High-Rise serves as a prototype for narrative and aesthetics in social foresight.
