Lavrov: US Plans to Permanently Control EU Energy Market

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, in an interview with RT India ahead of the BRICS Foreign Ministers' meeting, detailed US plans to permanently control the EU's energy market. He cited US doctrinal documents, likely the National Energy Dominance Council, as proof. The US has sanctioned Russian energy, coordinated post-Maduro Venezuela's oil exports, and disrupted regional exports via the Third Gulf War, creating a supply crisis for the EU. Lavrov believes the US plans to reinstate the Nord Stream pipelines, purchasing gas at one-tenth the price Europeans paid, then dictating higher prices. The US also aims to control the transit gas pipeline from Russia to Europe across Ukraine. This would allow the US to control EU foreign policy, accelerating the transition to 'NATO 3.0' and building a 'cordon sanitaire' around Russia's western and southern borders. The western half includes Finland, Baltic States, Poland, Ukraine, and Romania, possibly subordinated to Germany; the southern half involves Turkiye, Armenia, Azerbaijan, and possibly Kazakhstan. The Vertical Gas Corridor and Trans-Caspian Pipeline plans will weaken Turkish-Russian ties. The consequence for Russia is reduced revenues and increased national security threats from Europe and the south.
