Lauryn Hill's Diaspora Calling! Festival Returns with Custom Kids of Immigrants Look

After almost ten years, Lauryn Hill brought back her Diaspora Calling! festival, hosting its second edition at the National Bowl in Milton Keynes, England, attracting 35,000 participants. The inaugural festival took place in 2016 at the Kings Theatre in Brooklyn, aiming to highlight music, art, and political discussions within the African diaspora. Hill partnered with her longtime friend Alvin Bekoe, whose label BbnZ Live had previously introduced her to Ghana. Comedian Dave Chappelle served as the host, with performances from Wyclef Jean, Erykah Badu, YG Marley, Zion Marley, and Giggs. Notable moments included Hill and Badu performing "Doo Wop (That Thing)" and a tribute to the 30th anniversary of the Fugees' "The Score." Hill designed her stage outfit with Kids of Immigrants, featuring a workwear-inspired skirt and padded jacket. She expressed aspirations for the festival to continue fostering connections within the diaspora over the next decade.
