Laurie Anderson's First Italian Exhibition Opens at Naples' Made in Cloister
On 27 May 2016, Made in Cloister in Naples inaugurated with a star-studded event attended by 2,400 guests, including actor Willem Dafoe, artists Jimmy Durham and Maria Theresa Alves, and Princess Tatiana of Sayn-Wittgenstein-Berleburg. The multidisciplinary space, born from the restoration of the 16th-century cloister of the Church of Santa Caterina a Formiello, was launched in 2012 by Rosa Alba Impronta, Antonio G. Martiniello, and Davide de Blasio. It aims to blend contemporary art with Neapolitan craftsmanship, hosting residencies and production. The opening exhibition, Laurie Anderson's "The Withness of the Body," is her first in Italy and runs from 28 May to 30 September 2016, under the patronage of the Museo d'Arte Donnaregina – Madre and as part of the XXI Triennale del Design di Milano. Other notable attendees included artists Guidi Harari, Mimmo Jodice, Martino Gamper, actor Toni Servillo, and director Pappi Corsicato.
