Lauren Bakst's Reverberations performance documents informal gallery conversations at New Museum's P.O.L.E. exhibition
In January and February 2015, Lauren Bakst showcased her piece, Reverberations, in the lobby gallery of the New Museum in New York as part of Gerard & Kelly's exhibition titled P.O.L.E. (People, Objects, Language, Exchange). Clad in a light pink sweater and patterned jeans, she shared brief anecdotes from the venue, such as a man's unsuccessful attempt to photograph with his iPhone 21 days earlier and a protest alert received 12 days prior during Black Lives Matter events. Each narrative was paired with choreographed movements. The programming by Gerard & Kelly also featured pole dancing with the Chosen Ones and dialogues with artists and activists, including Chris Kraus and Andrea Fraser, turning the museum into a vibrant space for meaningful interactions.
