Laure Tiberghien's Camera-Less Color Explorations at Galerie Lumières des roses
Laure Tiberghien creates unique photographic works without a camera, using light and color on photosensitive paper. Her exhibition "Variations en un certain ordre assemblées" runs from February 20 to April 13, 2019, at Galerie Lumières des roses in Montreuil. The artist composes with colored gels and filters, placing forms between glass plates and exposing them in the darkroom. She uses Cibachrome papers, which are disappearing, and produces monotypes that are not reproducible. Her practice references Color Field painters like Mark Rothko and Barnett Newman but eliminates the gesture while retaining the idea. The gallery specializes in anonymous photography and has supported artists using historical techniques since 2017. Tiberghien is participating in the new Prix Découverte at the Rencontres d'Arles this year.
