Laure Prouvost's 'We Felt A Star Dying' Opens at Grand Palais

The Grand Palais in Paris is currently hosting Laure Prouvost's exhibition 'We Felt A Star Dying,' which will be on display until July 26. This show, initially commissioned by LAS Art Foundation and first unveiled at Kraftwerk Berlin in 2025, has been adapted for the North Nave of the Grand Palais, where natural light influences its perceptual experience. The immersive installation delves into quantum physics, a project that emerged from two years of collaboration with philosopher Tobias Rees and scientist Hartmut Neven. A key feature is the large kinetic sculpture 'The Beginning,' which is animated by sound and light. Additionally, 'Cute Bits'—sculptural representations of qubits—symbolize quantum entanglement. The film 'We Felt A Star Dying' connects cosmic and molecular dimensions. Prouvost, a 1978-born French artist and 2013 Turner Prize recipient, previously assisted John Latham. The exhibition emphasizes perception as fluid, influenced by probability and relationships rather than fixed truths.
