Laure Prouvost named French representative for 2019 Venice Biennale

Laure Prouvost will create France's national pavilion at the 2019 Venice Biennale, running from May 11 to November 24. The Institut Français made the selection. Prouvost, born in Lille in 1978, currently resides in Antwerp. Her artistic recognition includes winning the Turner Prize in 2013 and the Max Mara Art Prize for Women in 2011. A significant solo exhibition titled 'Ring, sing and drink for trespassing' will open at Paris's Palais de Tokyo on June 22. The announcement follows a review of her exhibition 'the wet wet wanderer' at Rotterdam's Witte de With Center for Contemporary Art.
