Laura Luchetti's 'La bella estate' film adaptation of Cesare Pavese's story releases August 24
'La bella estate,' directed by Laura Luchetti and based on Cesare Pavese's 1949 Strega Prize-winning short story collection, made its debut at the Locarno Festival. It is set to hit Italian theaters on August 24, 2023, through Lucky Red. Filmed entirely in Piedmont, including locations like Turin and the lakes of Avigliana, the cast features Yile Yara Vianello and newcomer Deva Cassel, the daughter of Monica Bellucci and Vincent Cassel, along with Nicolas Maupas, Alessandro Piavani, and others. The score, created by Francesco Cerasi and released by Edizioni Curci, will be available digitally on the same date. The narrative, set in 1938 Turin, follows Ginia, a rural girl exploring the city's bohemian scene with the bold Amelia.
