Laura Buckley, Irish artist known for immersive light and sound installations, dies at 45

Laura Buckley, an artist from Ireland who lived in London, has died. Renowned for her kinetic sculptures and installations that merge moving images, sound, light, and digitally scanned prints, she experienced a pivotal artistic transformation during her MA studies at Chelsea College of Art in 2007. Her prominent work, Fata Morgana, premiered at Cell Projects in London in 2012 and subsequently at Saatchi Gallery. In a 2014 interview, she reflected on her shift from painting to video. Her collaborations included directing the 2012 music video for New Young Pony Club and working with Plaid in 2019. Born in Galway, she held solo exhibitions at Eigen + Art in Berlin (2016), Supplement in London (2011), and Mothers Tankstation in Dublin (2010). She was nominated for the Film London Jarman award in 2014.
