Laumeier Sculpture Park Reimagines Ursula von Rydingsvard's 1988-89 Commission

exhibition · 2026-08-09

Laumeier Sculpture Park has unveiled a new endeavor called "Untitled," which reinterprets Ursula von Rydingsvard's original commission from 1988-89. This project is part of the park's Begin Again anniversary series, celebrating its 50-year legacy of artist collaboration and support for fresh commissions and exhibitions. Included in this series is an indoor exhibition titled "Begin Again: Years and Counting," along with three new outdoor commissions by Juan William Chávez, Ursula von Rydingsvard, and Alison Saar. Each artist has been invited to revisit a previously decommissioned piece, resulting in works that reinterpret, rebuild, or draw inspiration from the originals. Von Rydingsvard's initial installation was a significant and cherished piece in the park, but it was permanently removed due to material decay and conservation challenges. This reimagined work marks the third installment in the Begin Again series.
