Lato D: Sex-Positive Bookstore Opens in Milan's Chinatown

On June 27, 2023, Lato D, a bookstore dedicated to sexuality, desire, and identity, opens in Milan at via Signorelli 1 in the Chinatown district. Founded by booksellers Marta Santomauro and Giulia Tettamanti together with educator Anna Francesca Ghezzi, the project began in July 2021 as a cultural association working in schools. The store offers books, magazines, catalogs, and essays on queer topics, along with small objects, notebooks, sex toys, and artisanal candles. The opening features poets reading texts to guide visitors. The founders aim to educate about pleasure, awareness, and sexuality without taboos, targeting all ages. The launch coincides with Pride Month, framing the store as another step in breaking taboos through narrative.
