LATLETA: Claudio Cosimato on Music, Poetry, and Craft

artist · 2026-04-27

Claudio Cosimato, known as Vittorio Cane in the indie scene, discusses his project LATLETA and his album 'Miraggi', released in December 2019 on Labellascheggia. The album blends voice, guitar, piano, synthesizers, and drum machines, characterized by refined lyrics and a sound rooted in hands-on experimentation with vintage instruments. Cosimato collects and repairs synthesizers like the Crumar Trilogy, Farfisa Sintorchestra 4, Siel Cruise, and Korg Superdrum DDM 110, emphasizing the tactile relationship with machines. His songwriting process is spontaneous, driven by sensations and images, often captured on block-notes. The album's title track was originally intended for a song later named 'Io ti conosco'. The cover art by Emiliano Ponzi reflects a dual perspective. Music videos were created by Donato Sansone for 'Il sistemone' (2018) and Enzo Lo Re for 'Balla la testa'. Serena Bulla directed a new video for 'Nelle nostre anime' and performs live with Cosimato. Songs like 'Viva la vita' (140 bpm) and 'Balla la testa' incorporate dance influences, while 'L'astronauta' plays with negation and slow rhythm. The interview was conducted by Davide Dal Sasso.
