Latifa Saeed's 'Black Silhouette' Opens in Almaty with Cross-Border Artwork

exhibition · 2026-04-22

Emirati artist Latifa Saeed's exhibition 'Black Silhouette' has opened at Almaty Gallery in Kazakhstan, running until July 8. The show is supported by Almaty's City Administration and Dubai-based Scalo Group. The centerpiece, 'The Sand Route', is a metal structure with glass panels handcrafted from Dubai desert sand; the glass was airlifted from Dubai while the metal was engineered and assembled in Almaty. Saeed collaborated with Kazakh inventor Sergey Belan to realize the piece. Curated by Valeria Ibraeva, the exhibition marks Saeed as the first Emirati artist to exhibit in Kazakhstan. It features nine artworks using metal, textile, glass, and sand. Scalo Group, comprising Scalo Technologies and Scalo Properties, begins a new commitment to UAE cultural activities through this support.
