Latifa Echakhch Creates Silent Concert Experience for Swiss Pavilion at 2022 Venice Biennale

Latifa Echakhch is set to showcase Switzerland at the 59th Venice Biennale, which will take place from 23 April to 27 November 2022. Her installation in the Giardini pavilion seeks to evoke the sensation of a silent concert, collaborating with Francesco Stocchi and Alexander Babel to completely transform the space. Echakhch approaches her work as a musician might, emphasizing themes of time, music, and memory. She draws inspiration from a range of Swiss artists, including Meret Oppenheim, Alberto Giacometti, and Jean Tinguely, among others. Although she acknowledges the constraints of national representation, Echakhch believes art can surpass political boundaries. She looks forward to other pavilions, including those from France, the UK, and Canada.
