Latera the Art Farm: 10,000 Euro Prize for Permanent Artwork in Tuscia Village

The Association Saint Francis' Ways has launched the Latera the Art Farm open call, offering a 10,000 euro prize for a permanent artwork to be installed in the medieval village of Latera, located in the Tuscia region between Tuscany and Lazio, in the province of Viterbo. The initiative aims to revitalize this depopulated and long-forgotten town, making it more attractive for tourism. The selected artist will receive a 30-day residency between March and May 2025 to study the territory and its history, and create a sculpture or installation involving the local community. The artwork will become part of an open-air exhibition route within the historic center. The call is open to international artists, with materials, transport, board, and lodging covered by the organizers. The deadline for submissions is August 5, 2024. The broader Latera the Art Farm project also involves Italian visual artists creating street art, sculptures, and installations, as well as artistic design works for the renovation of rooms in a diffuse hotel currently under restoration. An audio-video documentation of the project will be produced and promoted on institutional and partner channels.
