Late Picasso Exhibition at Aalborg's Kunsten Museum Highlights Final Decade

The 'Late Picasso' exhibition at the Kunsten Museum of Modern Art in Aalborg, Denmark, features more than sixty pieces created between 1963 and 1972. The event was inaugurated by Bernard Ruiz-Picasso, the grandson of the renowned artist. This showcase emphasizes Picasso's later artistic style, characterized by vibrant brushwork and recurring motifs of self-portraits, musketeers, and lovers. Among the museum's notable pieces is Picasso's 1957 mosaic, 'Visage d'étoile', which was acquired in 1967 by director Lars Rostrup Bøyesen; it is the sole mosaic from a series of nine created with Hjalmar Boyesen in a museum collection. Additionally, musketeer artworks on loan from the Holstebro Art Museum are included. The exhibition will be open until September 6, 2026, within the architectural marvel designed by Alvar Aalto.
