Laszlo De Simone's 'Vivo' blends music with interactive live-cam video installation

Italian singer-songwriter Andrea Laszlo De Simone released 'Vivo' on January 15, 2021, via 42 Records, accompanied by an interactive audio-video installation on a dedicated website, vivo2021.tv. The site, created by web developer Giulio Liberati and graphic designer/musician Valerio Bulla, aggregates live-cam feeds from around the world—including Venice, Paris, Las Vegas, Thai beaches, snowy Russian trains, polar bears, underwater scenes, and Earth from an astronaut's perspective. Each visit randomly selects different footage, making the user the director of a personalized music video. The song's instrumental intro recalls Fabrizio De André's 'La canzone dell'amore perduto.' The site briefly went live before New Year's Eve for only 12 hours before being reactivated. Laszlo De Simone previously released the animated short 'Sparite tutti' on December 31, 2018, and a medium-length film for his album 'Immensità' on December 31, 2019. The artist describes the project as a response to missing the world and media narratives, stating, 'I won't say phrases like 'waiting for better times,' because there's only one life.'
