Lasvit's Crystal Trophy for Tour de France: 15 Years of Craft
Since 2011, Czech glassmaker Lasvit has crafted the crystal trophy for the Tour de France, combining traditional Bohemian glassmaking with Škoda's design and continuous innovation. The trophy, designed with Škoda Design, stands 60 cm tall and weighs 5 kg. Each year, seven pieces are produced: four green for points classification winners and three transparent for the overall champion and other category winners. Production begins six months before the race, involving prototypes, cutting tests, and meticulous handwork. The 2026 edition draws inspiration from the crystal components of the new organ at St. Vitus Cathedral, another Lasvit-Škoda project, adapting its faceted pattern to the trophy's curved surface. For the second consecutive year, the trophy features Emerald Green, a color developed exclusively for Škoda. The trophy symbolizes the collaboration between the two firms and represents fifteen years of glass mastery, cementing Lasvit's status as a leading contemporary glass design brand. The company, founded by Leon Jakimič, is known for transforming glass into architectural and artistic experiences, collaborating with architects, designers, and artists on international projects.
