LASTESIS, a Chilean collective, has unveiled an English version of their feminist manifesto, '¡Quemar el Miedo!' (Set Fear on Fire), published by Verso Books. This edition, which aims to present their perspectives to the Global North, follows its original release in 2021. The group first captured attention in November 2019 with their impactful performance 'Un violador en tu camino' in Valparaíso amidst social protests. The manifesto comprises seven chapters that tackle topics such as state violence, capitalism, and bodily autonomy, addressing issues like sexual assault, unpaid labor, illegal abortion, and political asylum. Priced at £8.99, the translation by Camila Valle seeks to channel patriarchal fear into feminist empowerment while critiquing the Global North as an 'extractivist' region.
