The Ashmolean Museum in Oxford has opened 'Last Supper in Pompeii', an exhibition that reconstructs the final moments of life in Pompeii before the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 AD. Featuring over 300 archaeological artifacts, including everyday objects, utensils, carbonized food remains, mosaics, and treasures, the show draws from the Archaeological Park of Pompeii and Paestum, the National Archaeological Museum of Naples, the British Museum, the London Archaeological Museum, and private collections. Curated by Paul Roberts, the exhibition runs from July 25, 2019, to January 12, 2020. It is supported by Intesa Sanpaolo as part of a broader collaboration with the University of Oxford, which includes training, research, exchanges, and scholarships. Stefano Lucchini, Chief Institutional Affairs and External Communication Officer at Intesa Sanpaolo, highlighted the partnership's significance for enhancing skills and promoting Italian culture and history through recent archaeological discoveries.
