Last Blockbuster in Oregon Becomes 1990s-Themed Airbnb

The last surviving Blockbuster video rental store, located in Bend, Oregon, has been transformed into a themed Airbnb by superhost Sandi Harding. The store, which had become a tourist attraction for nostalgic visitors, now offers a "pigiama party" experience complete with a sleeper sofa, snacks, VCR, large-screen TV, 1990s movies, pizza, Pepsi, and popcorn. The property is situated between a legal cannabis shop and a pet crematorium. A 2019 New York Times analysis attributed the store's prolonged survival to low population density and limited high-speed internet access in the area. Blockbuster once had 9,000 stores at its peak before declining due to piracy and streaming services.
