Lars Von Trier's 'Riget' Premieres at Venice 79

At the Venice Film Festival (Venice 79), Lars Von Trier presented 'Riget' (Exodus), the third season of his cult series 'The Kingdom', out of competition. The series, set in a Copenhagen hospital, blends medical drama with horror, grotesque, and black humor. After 25 years, Von Trier returns to this project, originally from the 1990s, without altering its essence. The story follows Karen, a sleepwalker who discovers the series via DVD and enters a closed kingdom accessible only by mistake. The hospital serves as a microcosm where conflicts between Swedes and Danes, science and passion, life and death unfold. Willem Dafoe appears as a Luciferian figure. The series is available on MUBI.
