Largest Henry Moore outdoor exhibition opens at Kew Gardens

exhibition · 2026-05-09

Kew Gardens in west London has unveiled 'Monumental Nature,' the largest outdoor showcase of Henry Moore's creations, featuring 30 sculptures throughout the botanical gardens. This exhibition will be on display until 31 January 2027, with four pieces remaining at Wakehurst, Kew's expansive 500-acre wild botanic garden in Sussex, until May 2027. In addition to the sculptures, visitors can also view drawings and prints. Paul Denton, Kew's director of creative programmes and exhibitions, emphasized the opportunity for visitors to connect with Moore's artistic influences and his focus on the human figure within nature. Sebastiano Barassi, who oversees Henry Moore collections and programmes, highlighted Moore's profound connection to nature, inspired by organic shapes such as bones, stones, and trees. Moore, celebrated as one of the foremost British artists of the 20th century, was known for his semi-abstract bronze sculptures in public spaces. In March 2025, his piece 'King and Queen' fetched £26 million.
