Lara-Vinca Masini's Selected Writings Published in New Volume

publication · 2026-04-27

A new anthology featuring the influential writings of Lara-Vinca Masini, a prominent Italian art critic, has been released. Entitled 'Scritti scelti 1961-2019. Arte Architettura Design Arti applicate', this collection marks the first time her vast critical contributions have been compiled. The initiative was led by Giuliano Gori, with curation by Alessandra Acocella and Angelika Stepken. Masini, who commenced her training in the Ragghianti family during the late 1950s, is celebrated for her adaptable intellect across various disciplines, including art, architecture, and design. The book features her important essay on Art Nouveau (1985) and the introductory text for the 1980 Florence exhibition 'Umanesimo, Disumanesimo nell'arte europea 1890/1980', showcasing artists such as Pier Paolo Calzolari and Sandro Chia. Acocella's introduction is presented as a dialogue, highlighting Masini's relationships with figures like Ettore Sottsass and Nanda Pivano, as well as her meeting with Werner Jaeger. Additionally, an interview within the book details Masini's response to Ragghianti following her father's death in a bombing. Published by Gli Ori in Pistoia, 2020, the volume spans 448 pages and is priced at €35.
