Langsdorff Expedition Revisited in Exhibition Marking 200th Anniversary, Confronting Brazil's Environmental Crisis

The exhibition titled 'Langsdorff: A expedição fluvial 200 anos depois' commenced on March 31 at the Biblioteca Brasiliana Guita e José Mindlin - USP in São Paulo and will continue until June 26. This event is organized by Instituto Hercule Florence and Documenta Pantanal, in collaboration with BBM-USP, Instituto Moreira Salles, and Centro Maria Antônia da USP. It revisits the river expedition led by Georg Heinrich von Langsdorff from 1826 to 1829. Showcasing over a hundred pieces, the exhibition includes historical documents and modern photographs that highlight environmental issues. Curated by Instituto Hercule Florence, it will feature an environmental film series from May to June and launches for publications on June 22–23. Admission is free, with visiting hours from 8:30 AM to 8:30 PM on weekdays.
