Landscapes: A Polysensory Book by Gadonneix and Delbecq

publication · 2026-04-23

Marina Gadonneix and Marcelline Delbecq's collaborative book "Landscapes," published by Rvb Books, redefines the relationship between text and image. The work consists of two volumes bound tête-bêche: one contains Gadonneix's photographs, the other Delbecq's text "Blackout." The physical configuration prevents simultaneous reading and viewing, but an accompanying CD allows the listener to hear the text while viewing the images, creating a polysensory experience. The book was launched with a conference at Fondation Ricard, followed by a reading of "Blackout" accompanied by a slide projection orchestrated by Gadonneix. Additionally, two large photographic prints from the Landscapes series were exhibited. The project originated from Gadonneix's 2006 exhibition "Nuage fig.1" at Le Vestibule de la Maison Rouge, curated by the collective le Bureau, where works were presented as slides viewed through optical viewers. Rémi Parcollet documented the project.
