Landis Gores's Self-Designed Connecticut Home Listed for $3 Million

A stunning home in New Canaan, Connecticut, designed by architect Landis Gores for his family back in 1946, is currently listed for $3 million. Gores was part of the influential “Harvard Five” group, which included notable architects like Philip Johnson and Marcel Breuer, and was key in making the town a center for Modernist architecture. This 3,096-square-foot residence sits on a granite ridge surrounded by four acres of woods, featuring a unique mix of glass walls, natural stone, and gray-stained cypress siding. Noteworthy aspects include a skylit foyer with a bluestone wall, a living-dining area with expansive glass, and original lighting by Richard Kelly. Gores added a circular terrace and oval pool in the 1980s. The home stayed in the family until his wife, Pamela, passed away in 2025 at the age of 102. It has been on the National Register of Historic Places since 2002 and is protected by a preservation easement.
