Landandart: Permanent Public Art Project Expands in Piedmont's Monregalese

other · 2026-04-26

The permanent public art project Landandart – andar per arte, created and curated by the Associazione culturale VIA, continues to expand in the Monregalese area of Piedmont, an under-recognized part of the Langhe region. The latest work, Flusso Pellegrino by Carlo D'Oria, was recently inaugurated. It is a corten steel sculpture installed behind the Cappella di San Rocco in Vicoforte, paying homage to humanity's nomadic spirit and cultural exchange. The site is set to become an open-air art park with a fixed stage for concerts and events. Previous interventions include Miracle by Emilio Ferro (2024), a metal light structure and sound recording for the Cappella di San Rocco; Atto unico – campane by Giovanni Ozzola (2024), five ceramic bells originally at Bosco della Nova in Mondovì but relocated after vandalism; and La Vergine dei Battuti by Antonio Capaccio, filling a niche in the former Oratorio della Confraternita dei Battuti in Vicoforte. For 2025, Jacopo Benassi is expected to create an intervention enhancing the natural scenery of Bosco del Fo. The project is inspired by the Sentiero Landandè, a 55 km trail network for hiking and cycling managed by a local committee. Landandart aims to connect artworks along these paths, with ambitions to extend to the Roero area. The association was founded two years ago by Giulia Carbone, Geremia Siboni, and Sergio Basso. The region features the Santuario di Vicoforte, which boasts the world's largest elliptical dome entirely frescoed.
