Lamberto Teotino's EP Exhibition: Five Photographic Works Explore Human Psyche and Time
Rome-based artist Lamberto Teotino presents five black-and-white photographic works in his exhibition EP, created between 2011 and 2013. These manipulated images, printed on Hahnemühle cotton paper, examine dark aspects of the human psyche and humanity's relationship with time, drawing philosophical influence from Heidegger and Sartre. The works include L’ultimo Dio (2012–13), a large-scale portrait of a patriarchal figure with obscured features, and Wormhole (2012–13), depicting a bisected landscape with a grazing cow. Mr and Mrs Smithee (2013), the largest work at 240 by 160 cm, shows male and female archers poised to shoot each other in a tranquil garden setting. Sistema di Riferimento Monodimensionale (2011–13) features five female dancers with portions of their heads precisely removed. Teotino's subtle manipulations create unsettling images that reflect on quantum mechanics, spatiotemporality, and humanity's fragile position in an indifferent universe. The exhibition contrasts with contemporary art trends focused on financial critique, instead presenting cold, unsentimental depictions of human forms. All works maintain minimal visible manipulation, emphasizing skewed realities rather than distorted images.
