Lamantice: New Illustrated Magazine Launches in Puglia

C.A.L.M., an artistic collective located in Lecce, has introduced Lamantice – Fiato ai Disegni, an independent illustrated magazine published by Ergot Edizioni. The inaugural issue was unveiled in Lecce and showcases the work of 24 artists, including Alessandra De Cristofaro, Giuseppe Apollonio, and Emanuela Bartolotti, among others. This magazine employs graphic journalism to explore the contradictions within postmodern society, reflecting on significant political events from 2017 and early 2018 on various scales. Featured topics encompass the January 2017 Women's March against Trump, Berlusconi's 'pact with Italians' on Valentine's Day 2018, the Brexit initiation, NASA's new solar system discovery, No Tap protests in Melendugno, and an assault on a journalist from Nemo. The collective seeks to revitalize language through illustration, advocating for an 'ecology of words' to inspire critical thought.
