Lal Batman's 'The Floor is Lava' Opens at Anna Laudel Düsseldorf

Lal Batman's first solo exhibition in Germany, 'The Floor is Lava,' is now on view at Anna Laudel Düsseldorf until February 4, 2024. The exhibition draws inspiration from playground games but explores adult anxieties, impending catastrophes, and haunting memories. It features new sculptural and video works that blend futuristic landscapes, underworld scenarios, and fantastic imagery, accompanied by ASMR-like soundtracks. The large-scale sculptures obstruct movement, mirroring the grotesque and sinister aspects of childhood games. Batman also addresses digitalization and social media, probing the human psyche's need for love and harmony alongside a fascination with evil and destruction. The exhibition transforms the gallery floor into metaphorical lava, leading visitors through perilous dreams and nightmares.
