Lake Verea captures Palm Springs icons under moonlight
The Palm Springs Art Museum is showcasing "Lake Verea: DarkRooms and Other Games," an exhibition by the Mexico City duo Francisca Rivero-Lake and Carla Verea, who have been collaborating as Lake Verea since 2005. Their work fuses their identities as queer women with innovative photographic methods to produce intimate architectural portraits. In this exhibition, they focus on Palm Springs landmarks, such as Richard Neutra’s Kaufmann House and Albert Frey’s Aluminaire House and Frey House II, capturing these structures bathed in moonlight to unveil nuances hidden by the desert sun. Christine Vendredi, the museum's Executive Director, remarked that Lake Verea’s art encourages audiences to pause and rethink the experience of these architectural treasures through their atmosphere.
