Lake Flato Opens Marble Falls Arthouse in Texas Hill Country
Lake Flato has completed the Marble Falls Arthouse, a modern art gallery located in the Texas Hill Country, about an hour's drive northwest of Austin. This two-story building, found on historic Main Street next to a 1910 post office, features a 2,000-square-foot exhibition space on the first floor, complete with 12-foot ceilings, a skylight, and exposed steel trusses. A clerestory window enhances the natural light. The second floor has private offices under a protective overhang. The front showcases a limestone façade with an awning matching nearby buildings, while the back is clad in corrugated metal. Designed by Japanese gardener Sada Uchiyama, the courtyard complements the gallery, which houses the collection of Mickey and Jeanne Klein. The inaugural exhibition, "Words Matter," features artists like Ed Ruscha and Jenny Holzer. Marble Falls, a certified Tourism Friendly Texas Community since 2025, has over 10,000 residents. Grace Boudewyns, the lead designer, highlighted the aim to create a welcoming space that ties into the downtown area.
