Lake Flato Designs Arthouse in Marble Falls, Texas

Arthouse, a contemporary exhibition venue spanning 2,000 square feet, is set to launch on April 25 in Marble Falls, Texas. This striking white structure, situated on an infill lot adjacent to the historic post office from around 1910, will showcase artworks by Mary C. Sloane, Kenturah Davis, and Faith Ringgold, all sourced from the private collection of Mickey and Jeanne Klein. Grace Boudewyns, the lead architect, prioritized material simplicity and scale to enhance the focus on the art displayed. The Kleins, who have a notable collection featuring artists like Ed Ruscha and James Turrell, have previously partnered with Lake Flato on a residence at Lake Austin. The opening coincides with Marble Falls' Paint the Town Art Festival, featuring the exhibition "Words Matter," curated by Mickey. The facility includes a movable wall, a private office, and a courtyard designed by Sada Uchiyama, curator emeritus of the Portland Japanese Garden.
