Lake Como Design Festival 2025 Explores Fragmentation

festival-fair · 2026-04-26

The seventh edition of the Lake Como Design Festival, titled Fragments, will take place from September 14 to 21, 2025. Curated by Lorenzo Butti, the festival uses the theme of fragmentation to address geopolitical turmoil, public opinion bubbles, and isolation. Exhibitions include 'Aldo Rossi. Architettura per frammenti' at San Pietro in Atrio, curated by Chiara Spangaro in collaboration with the Fondazione Aldo Rossi, featuring drawings, photographs, and documents. Ico Parisi's 'Crolli edificanti' series will be shown for the first time in Como, coinciding with the inauguration of the new Archivio Design Ico Parisi. At Villa del Grumello, ETEL presents a retrospective on Claudia Moreira Salles, and Dedar reinterprets Anni Albers. The Contemporary Design Selection, curated by Giovanna Massoni, includes about fifty projects from around the world, such as Kazuki Nagasawa's lamp, Rugsandrugs' landscapes of rupture from Ukraine, Lyuda Skrynnykova's reassembled found objects, and Lucie Gholam's work on rubble as sensitive archives. The selection also features collaborations between designers and companies, like Agglomerati and Sho Ota's modular installation using travertine marble fragments. Massoni notes young designers show activism but risk isolation.
