Lake Como Design Festival 2024 Explores Lightness Through Design

The sixth edition of the Lake Como Design Festival is underway until September 22, 2024, across historic venues in Como, including Palazzo del Broletto and Villa del Grumello. The theme of 'lightness' is interpreted through exhibitions, site-specific installations, talks, and guided tours. Highlights include a showcase of 28 chairs from the last century at Palazzo del Broletto, featuring iconic pieces like Gio Ponti's Superleggera and the Carbon Fiber Chair by Francesco Faccin. At the ex-church of San Pietro in Atrio, publisher Lithos celebrates its 35th anniversary with ten artists—including Michele De Lucchi, Mario Botta, and Nathalie Du Pasquier—creating original prints on zinc plates using traditional engraving techniques. The collective exhibition 'Lightness in Progress' at Villa del Grumello features works by 36 international designers selected via open call, such as Cecilia Rinaldi's updated weaving techniques and Japanese collective 9+1's washi paper plotter. The festival also offers visits to rationalist architecture and artist studios, including Draga&Aurel and Dalmoto.
