LAIKA Studios Adapts Colin Meloy's 'Wildwood' into Animated Feature

LAIKA Studios is adapting Colin Meloy's young adult novel 'Wildwood' into an animated feature film directed by Travis Knight. The story follows a girl named Prue who ventures into the Impassable Wilderness to rescue her baby brother, kidnapped by crows. The film features meticulously hand-built puppets and sets combined with CGI, with voice actors including Carey Mulligan, Mahershala Ali, Awkwafina, and Angela Bassett. LAIKA's artists studied bird movements for the Avian Principality, ruled by Owl Rex. The trailer is released, and the film opens October 23.
