institutional · 2026-04-24

On Sunday, May 3, from 10 am to 2 pm, LACMA is throwing a free family event to celebrate the opening of the David Geffen Galleries, which will house the permanent collection. This event is exclusive to NexGenLA members and their families, allowing them early access indoors. NexGenLA is a free membership for L.A. County youth aged 17 and under. Outside, there will be fun activities such as art-making, face painting, family portraits by Las Fotos Project, and performances by various groups including TAIKOPROJECT and the Bob Baker Marionette Theater. Inside the Boone Children's Gallery, workshops will be available, including a Matisse-inspired collage activity. It’s best to reserve free timed-entry tickets beforehand and consider using public transport due to limited parking.
