LACMA and AIA LA Host Free Architecture Workshops at David Geffen Galleries
The newly inaugurated David Geffen Galleries at LACMA, crafted by Pritzker Prize laureate Peter Zumthor, are now accessible to the public. This single-story building stretches across Wilshire Boulevard, showcasing a blend of architectural concrete and glass, emphasizing natural illumination and openness. In partnership with the American Institute of Architects Los Angeles, LACMA will host complimentary workshops from May 15-17. On May 15, 'Look and Listen: The David Geffen Galleries' offers a guided sensory exploration. The following day, 'Draw and Explore: Light and Space' provides an open drawing experience focused on light and texture, led by LACMA educators and AIA LA volunteers, including USC's Mina Chow. Finally, on May 17, 'Look and Wander: New Grounds' features a landscape tour with senior project manager Alexis SantaRomana, highlighting plants and pathways. These workshops are part of LACMA's Third Weekends in May.
