digital · 2026-04-27

The LAC Lugano has launched Lingua Madre – capsule per il futuro, a digital library of artistic content accessible for free on its website through May 2021. Curated by Carmelo Rifici (LAC artistic director) and Paola Tripoli (FIT Festival artistic director), the program started March 13 with a weekly schedule of videos, documentaries, films, texts, sound creations, conferences, and the 'Other Lands' section. It includes 18 new projects, 4 conferences, and 4 feature films across three thematic macro-areas: Body, Ritual, Language. The program opened with Poesie anatomiche, nine video poems by Francesca Sangalli featuring Camilla Parini, directed by Alessio Maria Romano (recent Silver Lion winner at Venice Biennale). Other highlights include Il corpo–poesia by Chiara Bersani (Ubu Award 2018) with Marta Ciappina, and on May 15, Storying Otherwise by Daria Deflorian inspired by Donna Haraway's Chthulucene, with sound by Emanuele Pontecorvo and singing by Monica Demuru. On May 17, Quello che vede l'acqua explores contemporary Venice through body and dance, curated by Stefano Tomassini with Caterina Serra, Annamaria Ajmone, and IUAV Venice students. The 'Other Lands' section (May 9–23) features Rudi Van der Merwe's Margine di errore about Cape Flats, and works by Egyptian artist Mohamed Abdelkarim and Palestinian-Egyptian artist Noor Abuarafeh. Four conferences on language are organized with ticinoscienza.ch.
