Labirinto della Masone Celebrates 10 Years with New App and 2025 Exhibitions
In 2025, the Labirinto della Masone in Fontanellato, Italy, will celebrate its tenth anniversary. Established in 2015 by the late Franco Maria Ricci (1937–2020), the labyrinth fulfills a promise made to writer Jorge Luis Borges in 1977. Architects Pier Carlo Bontempi and Davide Dutto designed this star-shaped bamboo maze, which comprises over 300,000 plants from twenty different species, and features a central Pyramid chapel for meditation. The site also includes Ricci's art and book collection, a café, a restaurant led by chef Andrea Nizzi, and two suites. To commemorate the anniversary, a new digital app, funded by the European Union's NextGenerationEU under the PNRR, will be launched. It includes mini-podcasts, accessibility features for the deaf and blind, and a virtual tour for individuals with reduced mobility. The labyrinth reopens on February 8, 2025, followed by the Ora d'arte evening series with Stefano Salis starting February 28. From March 29 to July 13, the exhibition Da Serafini a Luigi. L’uovo, lo scheletro, l’arcobaleno, curated by the Fondazione Franco Maria Ricci and featuring artist Luigi Serafini, will be showcased, highlighting three phases of Serafini's career. Additionally, the LOST festival is set to return from July 4 to 6, 2025, featuring electronic music and contemporary art.
