La région humaine explores bodies in urban space at Lyon's Musée d'art contemporain

As part of the 2006 edition of Septembre de la photographie, themed 'Des corps dans la ville', curator Michel Poivert and festival founder Gilles Verneret present 'La région humaine' at the Musée d'art contemporain in Lyon from 24 September to 31 December 2006. The exhibition draws from the private collection of the Fondation Neuflize Vie/ABN AMRO, featuring works by Philippe Ramette, Johan Van der Keuken, and Philip-Lorca diCorcia, alongside lesser-known pieces that shift thematic axes toward a 'poetic anthropology'. The first room is dedicated to two series by David Mozziconacci: one capturing workers sleeping among machines, the other revealing gestures that extract humanity from the body. Other artists include Jean-Luc Moulène (retroprojection), Florian Ebner (Nomades), Pierre Faure, Geoffroy Mathieu (black-and-white kaleidoscopic views of pedestrians in world capitals), Gilles Saussier (portraits of trades), Valentine Vermeil (autistic children), Yveline Loiseur (intergenerational play), Christophe Bourgueudieu (passengers), Arno Gisinger, and Valérie Jouve (film). The exhibition challenges panoramic viewing, reflecting the viewer's own humanity. A catalogue is published by Filigrannes/Le bleu du ciel (2006).
