La Gola Returns: Iconic Italian Food Culture Magazine Relaunches with Art Focus

publication · 2026-04-26

La Gola, the Italian culinary culture magazine, is making a comeback under the leadership of editor Fabio Gibellino after many years. Originally established in the early 1980s, it played a pivotal role in sparking the slow food movement. The revamped La Gola will shift its focus away from recipes and ratings, instead exploring food through the lenses of literature, philosophy, art, and design, with each edition featuring a unique artist's illustrations. The inaugural issue pays tribute to the original illustrators, Massimo Dolcini and Gianni Sassi (1982–1986), and includes contributions from Alberto Capatti, Caroline Corbetta, and chef Beatrice Guzzi. A limited print run of 2,000 copies will be released quarterly, along with special editions for events and an online version.
