La Foresta: A New Independent Art Publication Launches at MAMbo

La Foresta, a new periodical directed by young art critics Andrea Tinterri and Domenico Russo, was presented at MAMbo in Bologna a few weeks ago. The publication, published by independent house Nuova Editrice Berti, deliberately avoids commercial magazine conventions: it has no images on its monochrome cover, no advertising, and no graphic embellishments. Instead, it foregrounds artists' names and text summaries, aiming to function as both a magazine and an artist's book. The title evokes a forest as a space of estrangement and freedom, where readers must navigate autonomously. Each issue includes a limited edition with a more complex artistic intervention, such as Alessandro Sambini's sticker pages in the first issue. Contributors to the first issue include Lorenzo Balbi, Francesca Lazzarini, Andrea Cortellessa, Emanuela Zanon, and Luca Zuccala. Distribution is handled by Corraini at MAMbo's bookshop, and subscriptions are available. The directors emphasize their autonomy, supported by BDC (Lucia Bonanni and Mauro Del Rio) but without commercial influence. They describe the publication as a response to a perceived need for non-didactic, challenging content in contemporary art discourse.
