La Chola Poblete's Bread Sculptures and Watercolors at MUDEC Milan
La Chola Poblete, the Argentine artist named Deutsche Bank Artist of the Year 2023, presents her exhibition 'Guaymallén' at MUDEC in Milan. The show, previously staged in Berlin, features three bodies of work: large watercolors, photography, and bread sculptures. All organic works were produced days before the opening at Davide Longoni's bakery in Milan. The bread masks and anthropomorphic sculptures, including 'La Venere marrone bruciata' and a female bust surrounded by french fries, reference indigenous culture and critique colonialism. The watercolors combine rock music, religion, food, and identity affirmations, while the photographs offer satirical performances, notably targeting Mormon colonization. The exhibition runs at MUDEC Milan.
