La Caixa Foundation Presents Conversation Piece at Galleria Nazionale di Roma
In conjunction with a major Giorgio de Chirico retrospective in Barcelona, the La Caixa Foundation has loaned works from its collection to the Galleria Nazionale di Roma for the exhibition "Conversation Piece," curated by Nimfa Bisbe. The title references Juan Muñoz's work and Mario Praz's book "Scene di Conversazione," emphasizing dialogue between private and public institutions. The show features fourteen minimalist works by artists including Agnes Martin, Joan Hernández Pijuan, Richard Serra, Donald Judd, Fernanda Fragatejro, Jana Sterbak, and Juan Muñoz. Ignasi Miró, director of the Culture Area of the Foundation, highlighted Muñoz's eyeless figures as an enigma of communication. The exhibition explores three themes: essentialist aesthetics, the sculpture-architecture relationship, and theatricality and fiction. Jana Sterbak's installation "Psi a Slecna (Defence)" features a white velvet dress in a crinoline, referencing video performance and power's self-protection. The show runs at the Galleria Nazionale in Rome.
