L'art au défi de l'espérance: 19 Artists Tackle the Book of Job in Paris
The exhibition titled 'L'art au défi de l'espérance' was held at the Mairie du 6e arrondissement de Paris from January 17 to February 2, 2013. Nineteen artists participated, including Jean-Michel Alberola, Carole Benzaken, Vincent Bioulès, and others, exploring the biblical narrative of the Book of Job, specifically the concluding section where God restores Job's fortunes. Notable works featured Bioulès's 'Cela s'appelle ne pas être seul…', portraying Job's friends as contemporary self-righteous figures; Cognée's 'Le Vieil Homme', inspired by Rubens's Saint Thomas; and Couturier's creation using found materials to symbolize Job's revival. Benzaken presented 'Yemima' with a light installation, while Mehadji displayed white drapes on a black backdrop. Alberola's 'L'Espérance a un fil' showcased the word 'espérance' in neon. The exhibition received a review from Anne Dagbert.
