L'Arca dell'Arte: Contemporary Artists Honor Pasquale Rotondi at Rocca di Sassocorvaro

The Rocca Ubaldinesca in Sassocorvaro, Marche, hosts "L'Arca dell'Arte," a contemporary group exhibition celebrating Pasquale Rotondi, the superintendent who coordinated the rescue of 10,000 artworks from Nazi looting during World War II. Curated by Umberto Palestini, the show features nine artists—mostly trained at the Accademia di Urbino—paired with nine critics: Gabriele Arruzzo with Alberto Zanchetta, Luigi Carboni with Simone Ciglia, Matteo Fato with Nicola Setari, Ettore Frani with Massimo Recalcati, Andrea La Rocca with Eugenio Viola, Davide Mancini Zanchi with Lorenzo Madaro, Robert Pan with Federico Mazzonelli, Simone Pellegrini with Alice Zannoni, and Giovanni Termini with Adele Cappelli. The exhibition runs until July 17, 2016, at the Rocca, which served as a safe haven for artworks during Rotondi's "Operazione Salvataggio." The fortress is reimagined as an "arca"—a custodian of both material heritage and moral values, incubating ideas for aesthetic and civic reflection.
